Criteria for Abdominoplasty at NEWLS- General Comments
- Mr Anthony Clough performs abdominoplasty primarily on bariatric (weight loss surgery) patients who have debilitating symptoms from their abdominal "apron" of loose skin which often develops in association with weight loss
- Occasionally patients may be considered who have lost significant amounts of weight with diet and exercise programmes alone and have symptoms from their "apron" such as rashes, swelling, redness, back pain or difficulties with personal hygiene
- Women seeking removal of loose abdominal skin after pregnancy for cosmetic purposes only are encouraged to seek advice from a plastic surgeon rather than a bariatric surgeon
